solutions as well |
Singapore,
4 October 2000 - SGI, the global leader in modular high-end
servers and graphics computing, today announced its partnership
with 3ui, an innovative Singapore company specialising in
mobile infrastructure, strategies and solutions. The partners
will build on 3ui's core expertise in wireless data technologies
to offer solutions that stand out from available WAP solutions
as it promises to lead telcos, ISPs, ASPs, financial institutions
and brokerage houses into next-generation mobile computing.
SGI's
high performance computing capability, coupled with the unique
and innovative wireless data solutions from 3ui, gives this
partnership a distinctive edge over others in the market.
The synergy between SGI and 3ui will provide customers with
leading-edge secure and stable WAP and other mobile Internet
solutions.
Commenting
on the partnership, Mr Steven Szeto, Director, Solutions Sales
and Marketing, SGI Asia Pacific Headquarters, Singapore said,
"This strategic partnership represents a significant milestone
for SGI as it marks our entry into the WAP arena, an area
where we see good growth potential." He added, "3ui's unique
wireless data solutions coupled with our established high
performance capabilities will establish SGI as a leading player
in the field of next-generation mobile computing."
A key
strength of 3ui is its innovative technology, the result of
extensive research carried out at the Centre for Wireless
Communications (CWC), a premier research laboratory in Singapore.
3ui is supported by an impressive team comprising some of
the best talents in the industry, helping establish the company
as an innovator in WAP and other wireless solutions. The team
is made up of founding members of IPv6 Forum, rank holders
of Physics and Mathematics Olympiads, specialists in Cryptography,
Human Computer interaction and strategists with extensive
experience in chasm-crossing and viral marketing strategies.
" 3ui's
solutions already enjoy the support of thousands of developers
worldwide. This partnership with SGI, an established leader
in scalable and robust computing solutions will empower us
to deliver highly scalable and mission critical solutions
to all our clients," said Mr Alex MW Chan, a Director of 3ui.
In delivering
effective WAP gateway solutions, 3ui offers two key competitive
offerings in wireless data technologies to SGI. The first
is Eris, the first-of-its-kind e-mail solution available for
WAP enabled mobile devices. The present day WAP technology
faces limited user interface and network bandwidth problems.
With Eris and its patented "selective content delivery" technology,
such problems are overcome. Personalisation of information
on the move is possible and this offers a clear advantage
over existing email applications.
With the
seamless integration with existing e-mail systems through
Eris, mobile users can now focus on the real content of their
choice anytime and anywhere, thus saving time, bandwidth and
money.
The second
competitive offering in this partnership is Ophelia. A comprehensive
WAP gateway solution, Ophelia empowers organisations to deliver
Web-based interactive information, advanced wireless services,
applications and secure transactions over a wide range of
mobile devices.
Designed
with robustness and scalability in mind, Ophelia allows for
lower costs, flexible upgrades and improved time-to-market
with optimal secure solutions. With its support of future
mobile technologies such as GPRS, Ophelia provides organisations
with a strong foundation on which they can leverage to enhance
and grow their wireless market share and build their custom
applications and services.
