Biodata Firewall recognizes content of websites and protects families.

February 5, 2001. - Biodata Information Technology, global leader in network and communications technology products, announces today that it will unveil its firewall content filtering technology, "I-Watch" at CeBIT 2001 (Hall 11, Stand G55), the world's leading IT event in Hannover, Germany, on March 22, 2001. Through fully automated image and text analysis, "I-Watch," which was developed by Cobion and Biodata, uses a "Family Filter" to protect children against offensive material such as pornography, violence and illegal content, on the World Wide Web.

In contrast to conventional filters where key words are manually searched for, "I-Watch" identifies images and symbols, so that web pages that contain nudity or subversive symbols are immediately recognized and filtered. A black list that is updated automatically blocks access to "unwelcome websites". The automated high-speed analysis of textual and visual components of websites is quicker, more efficient and cost effective when compared to manual detection. The web filter is updated daily and its range is individually configurable by the user.

As the world's largest black list against offensive websites, Biodata and Cobion's technology filters a volume of over ten million Internet pages in contrast to conventional lists with no more than 1.5 million websites (Source: Networld Magazine, 07.2000). According to experts, there are currently 2.1 billion static sites online. Every day, seven million sites are added and automatically categorized in the "I-Watch" data base.
