Singapore, 26 September 2002 - Green Dot Internet Services (GDIS) Pte Ltd, a leading e-business enabler and internet services and solutions provider, has acquired can.com.sg from Singapore Power Ltd to strengthen its service offering. The acquisition was done in 2 parts. Part I took place in April 2002 where the existing business of can.com.sg was transferred to GDIS together with the e-business staff of the company. Part 2 was concluded in Aug 2002 when the ownership and operation of the can.com.sg portal moved over. Can.com.sg was previously the e-Business venture of Singapore Power Ltd, set up in early 2002.

Said Dr. Francis Yeoh, Chief Executive Officer of GDIS, "GDIS' core business is in providing portal operation and management services for corporations offering online transactions to a large user community. The can.com.sg e-business team, with strengths in integrated online/offline marketing, complements our current operations and greatly enhances the scope of our service offerings to clients."

Since coming on board, the can.com.sg e-business team has already demonstrated its value in developing an extensive online promotion program for MIW (www.miw.com.sg), the NSmen's portal managed by GDIS on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

This is a reward program for NSmen using a virtual discount card in the form of an icon downloaded to a mobile phone or personal digital assistant (PDA). The program was launched on 12 Sep at the Army Open House in SAFT Military Institute. My team of e-marketeers will continually seek out quality product offerings and exclusive deals from our large base of merchant contacts for the NSmen community."

As Singapore's leading location-based search engine with map-based interactive services, can.com.sg will continue to offer its high value services to its large base of internet users. GDIS is currently reviewing can.com.sg's operation to enhance its appeal and strengthen its value proposition. A new look can.com.sg will be re-launched by the end of the year.
